Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a local manufacturer in search of a Quality Engineering Technician. The Quality Engineering Technician oversees product process quality within operations. They engage with customers to address and resolve issues promptly, while also managing and updating quality systems and process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming parts and packaging to understand product quality and identify any issues.
  • Review drawings and specifications, making decisions on disputed parts brought by Production staff.
  • Address quality concerns raised by Production Assistants (PAs) regarding substrates, providing final approval or disposition and liaising with customer service for clarification when necessary.
  • Validate test results and address any spectral measurement issues that arise.
  • Conduct Environmental Testing, including Humidity, Temperature, Abrasion, Adhesion, and Solubility tests.
  • Investigate quality issues to determine root causes, such as handling or tooling problems.
  • Implement improvements on the shop floor to enhance efficiency and workflow, resolving unique challenges as they arise.
  • Aid in training new employees on quality procedures and specifications.
  • Familiarize oneself with all production-related procedures and assist in training new employees as required.
  • Assist in maintaining procedures, production forms, and folders.
  • Coordinate and lead customer audits upon request.
  • Manage the First Article Inspection (FAI) process for new and prototype work.
  • Oversee the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process, liaising with customers to address quality concerns and inspecting returned parts to determine disposition.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); completion of a two-year college program is desirable.

Experience

  • Prior experience with optics, including handling and cleaning, is advantageous.
  • Preference for candidates with inspection experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency in reading production documentation and basic part prints.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
  • Good visual acuity is required.
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
