Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a local property management firm to look for a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant role will oversee all accounting functions related to company operations. This includes managing the general ledger processing, labor distribution, property taxes, and accounts payable/receivable processes. Additionally, the role involves generating comprehensive reports, conducting analysis, preparing for audits, and providing technical support to staff and managers. Ensuring compliance with company and legal procedures, subsidies, and regulatory requirements is also a key responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain LP and LLC project books and records.
  • Oversee project receivables and payables.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual required reports.
  • Analyze and post monthly information to the general ledger, including A/R and A/P, and make necessary correcting journal entries.
  • Provide oversight and direction to staff, finance staff, agency auditors, and board committees, identifying and communicating property trends and projections, and initiating corrective measures.
  • Lead A/R and A/P bookkeepers, finance, and property management operations and department, with authority to exercise discretionary and independent decisions subject to annual reviews by the President/CEO, CFO, Comptroller, board committees, and agency auditors.
  • Define project goals, formulate management plans, identify and utilize necessary resources, and implement planned action, such as software conversions and enhancements, training manuals, hardware acquisition, revisions to financial systems, upgrades, or implementation of new software and spreadsheet solutions.
  • Prepare reports for funding sources, conduct bank reconciliations, and prepare financial records for audit.
  • Analyze periodic property financial reports and develop new and improved processing strategies through cost/benefit analysis.
  • Develop internal control/audit procedures and plans to safeguard property assets and ensure compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in property management and/or fund accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency in all facets of financial and property management is essential, along with a thorough understanding of IRS regulations and tax compliance requirements.
  • Candidates should possess experience using computer spreadsheets and property management software.
