AP Professionals has partnered with a well-established, local manufacturing company in search of a Senior Accounting Manager. This role oversees month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely financial processes that support business objectives. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office on the West side of Rochester. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in managing general ledger activities, including account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for revenue recognition, operating expense accruals, and intercompany eliminations, requiring cost accounting expertise.
  • Oversee accurate and timely financial transactions and closing processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile prepaid expenses, amortization, and accrual schedules.
  • Manage sales tax registrations, collections, and payments with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Develop and enforce financial policies to strengthen internal controls and ensure consistent accounting practices.
  • Analyze financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including accruals, allocations, and inventory valuations.
  • Assist with annual audits and collaborate on financial reporting with the CFO, Controller, and FP&A team.
  • Provide financial analysis, budget variance reports, and custom reporting tools for business needs.
  • Support annual budget development and documentation.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to assess business decisions.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure efficient financial operations.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA preferred.

Experience

  • At least 8 years of accounting experience with expertise in financial analysis, reporting, and GAAP compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Advanced Excel proficiency required; Microsoft Dynamics experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a solution-focused, ethical mindset.
  • Able to collaborate across all organizational levels in a dynamic environment.
