Senior Electrical Engineer

AP Professionals is collaborating with a manufacturing company in the Rochester, NY area in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer. This individual will support the R&D Electrical Engineering team by providing product design, root cause analysis, and obsolescence resolution services. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of concepts, designs, and detailed components for both current and next-generation instrument platforms and products.

• Leads and contributes to the design, analysis, review, and testing of simple to moderately complex electrical subsystems; provides guidance to team members as needed.
• Conducts and facilitates structured root cause investigations for complex electrical issues, often involving unknown variables.
• Drives resolution efforts for high-criticality and complex electrical component or assembly obsolescence.
• Leads and engages in cross-functional design reviews to ensure technical alignment and product integrity.
• Partners with and recommends external vendors for early-stage feasibility, prototyping, design for manufacturability/assembly, and production qualification activities.
• Develops and maintains Design History File documentation such as design specifications, theory guides, bills of materials, and work instructions.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support team and project goals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.

• Must have hands-on technical experience in the implementation of digital and analog circuits, including FPGAs, PLDs, EMI/EMC design and testing, stepper motor driver circuits, and servo controllers.
• Proficiency in electrical engineering tools such as schematic capture, PCB layout software, and SPICE simulation tools.

• Demonstrated technical background in root cause investigation, requirements management, product integration, risk management, verification and validation strategies, and engineering change control.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to ensure product performance aligns with user expectations.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget, particularly in regulated environments.
• Anticipates challenges and adapts to changing situations with foresight and flexibility.
• Builds and sustains effective cross-functional relationships; quickly earns trust and respect across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%, both domestically and internationally.
