Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a reputable company in the Rochester area in their search for a a newly created Senior Systems Analyst role! The Sr. Systems Analyst is responsible for installing, maintaining, and managing server and networking hardware within the Information Technology (IT) department. They play a crucial role in ensuring the team's efficiency and overall success.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with users to understand their needs, analyze workflows, and assess access, information, and security requirements to develop system specifications and designs.
  • Configure and implement IT systems by overseeing the selection, installation, setup, and testing of computers, servers, software, and both local and wide area networks.
  • Ensure optimal system performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, while coordinating with vendors for additional support when needed.
  • Strengthen system security and compliance by implementing access controls, monitoring for vulnerabilities, managing backups, responding to cybersecurity incidents, and testing disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation, policies, and procedures for IT systems and their use.
  • Enhance system capabilities by evaluating, testing, and coordinating the implementation of software updates and new features in collaboration with vendors.
  • Assist with budget management by providing cost estimates and tracking IT expenses.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements by attending training sessions, reviewing publications, networking, and engaging in professional groups.
  • Safeguard organizational data by ensuring information remains confidential and secure.
  • Serve as an escalation point for IT team members, providing expertise and support as needed.
  • Drive IT team success by proactively taking on new challenges, identifying process improvements, and contributing added value to the role.
  • Leverage scripting and automation tools to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Support and maintain the organization’s Office 365 environment, ensuring its functionality and reliability.
  • Lead and manage projects from initial planning and execution through to successful implementation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Networking and Systems Administration, or a related field

Experience

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in technical support
  • Technical Skills:
    • Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022, Linux
    • Server Applications: Microsoft Hyper-V, Zabbix
    • Desktop Applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
    • Other Applications: Microsoft 365, CrowdStrike
    • Networking Services & Protocols: TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, SMTP, DNS, NAT, ICMP, SNMP, Active Directory, HTTP
    • Hardware: FortiGate routers, network switches, Dell workstations and servers, backup devices, laptops, RAID systems, printers, scanners, copiers, and other peripherals
    • Scripting & Automation: PowerShell

  • Industry certifications such as Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications are recommended
