Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local commercial security solutions provider seeking a full-time Service & Installation Technician to join their growing team. This is a small, family owned business based in Rochester that serves New York State. Training, tools, and equipment provided. Install and maintain low voltage systems for Fire, Security, Access control, video, etc. This is a supportive, respected, and team-oriented company!

Responsibilities

  • Assist other technicians with cable, conduit or other field devices to maintain, repair or replace security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, card readers, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attached electrical, telephone and network wiring to connect components.
  • Assist field technicians with service issues.
  • Follow the established operations procedures to ensure timely resolution or escalation of issues.
  • Complete work order paperwork, expense reports and other necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with manager/supervisor with job status details, problems, potential issues and any other necessary information.

Experience

  • Must have at least 2 years in the low voltage industry; (low voltage 12 and 24).
  • Familiarity with any or the following products is highly desirable but not required. Must be willing to be trained on products and obtain certification as required: Lenel, Bosch, Axis, Feenics, Identicard, Assa-Abloy, Verient, Airphone, Tele guard, Edwards systems, and Kidder.
  • Possess a strong aptitude for and be skilled in the use of hand tools and commonly used industry materials and products.
  • Ability to run conduit/wire mold is essential.
  • Experience in installation and termination with Cat5e and Cat6 cables highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Must have troubleshooting skills to isolate causes and expedite solutions on equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in tight spaces and on high ladders.
  • Possess a successful track record with customer satisfaction.
  • Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Possess current certification in OSHA 10. Training for certification will be provided upon hiring if needed.
  • Carpentry and locksmith skills are a plus.
