Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial reporting and budgeting platform to ensure a stable environment for all users.
  • Play a vital role in coordinating the various planning cycles.
  • Support end users during the various planning cycles to ensure data collection is accurate.
  • Prepare or create financial models, analyses, spreadsheets, charts, and presentation that effectively presents data and analytical findings as needed.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts in support of the planning process.
  • Identify and recommend future enhancement to the planning process and systems.
  • Monitor and assess impact of proposed accounting and regulatory changes.
  • Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards and other relevant regulatory changes.
  • Author and maintain technical accounting memos to document assumptions and conclusions reached related to the matter at hand.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to ensure appropriate implementation of accounting standards and subsequent changes.
  • Provide information to accounting team or internal customers on emerging accounting and reporting matters that have implications for the business.
  • Be a key stakeholder for accounting and other internal customers and provide technical accounting conclusions along with education on the accounting concepts.
  • Develop and document a comprehensive internal control framework related to transactional risk and financial reporting.
  • Develop and execute a plan for ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of the financial reporting controls and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Identify any financial reporting gaps and assist in the remediation.
  • Represents the accounting group on cross-functional projects.
  • Lead investigation and implementation of projects for the accounting group in support of strategic initiatives.

Education

  • BA or BS in accounting, finance, business administration or related fields required.
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA in lieu of years of experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified internal auditor (CIA) preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of directly related experience
  • Financial industry/banking experience preferred.
  • Understanding of banking policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, strategic planning with financial services industry is highly desirable. Public Accounting experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting pronouncements required.
  • Excellent PC Skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc); Expert Excel formula and modeling skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of general ledger and financial planning systems.
  • Self-starter and work independently with limited direction and within a team.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, demonstrating critical thinking skills.
  • Manage multiple concurrent deadlines and prioritize workload while balancing speed and accuracy.
