AP Professionals has collaborated with a well established company in search of a Senior Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer. This role is based in Buffalo, NY.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates professionalism with a strong commitment to the firm’s reputation and growth.
Functions as a fully competent engineer across all standard aspects of assigned work.
Plans and executes tasks requiring independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques and procedures.
Collaborates with Principals, Associates, or Project Managers to finalize project scope and schedules, while aligning with identified priorities.
Beyond standard project engineer/designer duties, applies advanced practices, analyzes and interprets data, identifies discrepancies, and manages projects through all phases: programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction.
Supervises, coordinates, and reviews work, delegating tasks and managing schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepares reports, studies, and system analyses to support project goals.
Works efficiently, exercises sound judgment, and makes informed decisions.
Reviews and evaluates the suitability of substitute equipment.
Oversees final adjustments of equipment and systems following installation.
Communicates with clients directly, except in matters of high sensitivity or controversy.
Represents the firm at meetings and addresses multi-trade concerns, following up as needed.
May receive project support from other engineers and designers.
Assesses staffing needs, assigns tasks, monitors progress, and keeps Project Managers updated on resources and project status.
Provides mentorship and training to junior engineers and designers.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Education
Holds a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license, or is an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) actively pursuing P.E. licensure (preferred).
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education.
Experience
Minimum of eight years’ experience leading project design within the discipline, supplemented by advanced coursework, training programs, or management-focused seminars.
