Description

AP Professionals is partnering with a well established manufacturing company that has been in business for over a century in search of a Sustainability and Compliance Engineer. This role drives proactive development in the product portfolio to meet sustainability goals. Responsibilities include supporting sustainable packaging initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and applying expertise in the flexible packaging market and circular economy principles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in targeted sustainable research to deliver products exceeding customer expectations in form, function, and manufacturability.
  • Optimize material and technology resources for sustainable product development, aiding technical teams in decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to technical and operational teams on sustainable product recommendations.
  • Facilitate sustainable packaging opportunities with tailored proposals and presentations.
  • Participate in sustainable trial activities, documenting outcomes for new opportunities and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and supply chain partners for emissions abatement and product pipelines.
  • Engage in sustainable packaging associations, enhancing standards development and team education.
  • Manage data collection, monitoring, and reporting for corporate emissions reductions.
  • Support submissions to industry standards organizations and respond to customer inquiries on emissions reduction.
  • Promote APC innovations and maintain awareness of market trends and gaps.
  • Collaborate with operations to enhance circularity and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Embrace and practice safety fundamentals to support APC's zero-accident rate goal.
  • Attend and contribute to company meetings and travel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in a Technical Field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) from a reputable four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Exhibit an in-depth understanding of the flexible packaging market with proven proficiency in sustainable practices, including familiarity with standards, guidelines, and emission reduction strategies.
  • Showcased dedication to raising awareness and driving progress in sustainable packaging endeavors within the company and its customer base.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in comprehending and interpreting various forms of written communication, including general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents, and governmental regulations.
  • Display strong written communication skills through the creation of reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Possess effective presentation skills, enabling clear and concise communication of technical information to diverse stakeholders, coupled with the ability to address inquiries confidently.
  • Exhibit proficiency in both the preparation and delivery of presentations, ensuring impactful communication delivery.
