Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local manufacturing company in search of a Systems & Network Administrator. In this role, you will take a proactive, strategic approach to supporting end users, managing help desk operations, and maintaining the stability and security of core IT systems.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled technical professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for delivering reliable, secure technology solutions.

Responsibilities

User Support & Help Desk Management:

  • Manage and resolve IT support requests with an emphasis on timeliness and positive user experiences.
  • Deliver advanced technical assistance for hardware, software, and system-related challenges.
  • Create and maintain clear, detailed documentation to build a comprehensive knowledge base for recurring issues and resolutions.

Advanced System Administration:

  • Direct the setup, upkeep, and monitoring of physical and virtual server infrastructures.
  • Administer identity and access management through Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory, ensuring secure, efficient user access.
  • Oversee device and application deployment via Microsoft Intune, implementing MDM and endpoint compliance protocols.

Hardware & Infrastructure Management:

  • Lead the installation, configuration, and advanced diagnostics of server hardware and networking equipment.
  • Establish and execute preventative maintenance schedules and perform hardware upgrades to optimize performance.
  • Maintain and support on-premises infrastructure—such as printers, switches, and storage systems—for smooth integration with IT operations.

Security & Compliance Oversight:

  • Uphold and strengthen IT security policies, access controls, and data protection measures.
  • Partner with senior staff to identify system vulnerabilities and implement proactive security solutions.
  • Perform routine audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Project Leadership & Strategic Initiatives:

  • Spearhead IT initiatives including system enhancements, technology rollouts, and migration projects.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and outside vendors to deliver dependable, forward-thinking technology solutions.
  • Guide and support junior staff by providing mentorship, technical expertise, and best practice recommendations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration or IT support.
  • A comparable combination of education and professional experience may be considered.

Experience

  • In-depth expertise with NTFS permissions, DFS, DHCP, DNS, GPO, and Hyper-V administration.
  • Proven track record of working with Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) and Intune in a professional setting.
  • Extensive experience managing Windows servers and performing advanced hardware diagnostics and repairs.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or equivalent are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a history of independently resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, paired with a strong customer service orientation and experience leading technical support teams.
