Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit complex, multistate, business, and individual returns.
  • Perform financial statement compilations and reviews for clients and/or their small businesses.
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients to provide innovative accounting, tax planning, consulting, and/or compliance solutions.
  • Advise on and select tax software.
  • Establish the tax planning billing structure.
  • Ability to identify and research tax and accounting issues, develop resolutions, and prepare written conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively manage schedule and deadlines.
  • Assist with the development, training and mentoring of staff and interns as the tax practice grows over time.
  • Research tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings.
  • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits.
  • Assist with federal, state, and local tax compliance and regulations.
  • Remain current with tax changes and industry trends by participating in continuing education, professional organizations, professional networking and reading professional publications.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Licensed CPA required.
  • Personal Financial Specialist (PFS™) preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a public accounting firm with a combination of individual, small business, tax and/or audit experience (or a concentration in tax or audit).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in preparing estate and trust tax returns is preferred but not necessary.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently both in the office and at client locations
