Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a company in the Brockport, NY area in search of a Staff Accountant. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Financial Accountant and is responsible for supporting grants administration, revenue recognition, month-end close activities, fixed asset management, cash handling, and bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and updates grant budgets, including amendments and revisions, across all agency grants.
  • Processes and submits monthly grant vouchers in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Provides recurring grant status reports to leadership and program teams and maintains tracking of grant applications for management review.
  • Ensures grant revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with applicable guidelines.
  • Prepares and submits required reports to external funding entities.
  • Serves as a point of contact for grant-related communication with funding organizations, as needed.
  • Confirms that grant-related revenue and expenses are properly reflected in the agency’s operating budget.
  • Manages revenue recognition activities, including posting patient service revenue from the electronic medical record system.
  • Calculates and analyzes bad debt and contractual allowances and prepares related reporting.
  • Performs accounts receivable reconciliations, including analysis and recording of doubtful accounts.
  • Supports program teams by gathering and compiling financial information needed for budget submissions.
  • Develops cash flow analyses and prepares financial forecasts as required.
  • Assists the finance team with month-end close processes and supports the annual financial audit.
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations for all agency accounts.
  • Records monthly fixed asset activity and reconciles the fixed asset system to the general ledger.
  • Conducts an annual fixed asset review to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares supporting schedules and submits monthly HCRA tax filings.
  • Contributes to the development, revision, and review of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in accounting or related discipline with at least one year of applicable experience.

Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced capability in Excel.
